Diagnostic Evaluations

Comprehensive ADHD & Autism Diagnostic Evaluations starting at $500

Our mission is to remove barriers to identifying, understanding, and supporting your neurodivergence.

How Can Getting an Evaluation Help Me?

ADHD & Autism are more common than many people realize. Individuals with milder symptoms often go undiagnosed and untreated well into adolescence or adulthood, sometimes even throughout their entire lives. Without a clear explanation, the challenges that come with ADHD & Autism are often misunderstood or wrongly attributed to other causes.

The only way to know for sure whether you have ADHD and/or Autism is through a comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis by a qualified clinician.

An ADHD/Autism diagnosis can offer:

Validation and Acceptance
A formal diagnosis can confirm what you may have suspected for a long time. It can validate your experiences, explain past challenges, and help you recognize that there is a genuine reason behind how you think, feel, and interact with the world.

Greater Self-Understanding
An evaluation can bring clarity to experiences that may have felt confusing or difficult to explain. Understanding how ADHD/Autism influences your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions can be a source of comfort and relief. It may help you answer questions that have been present for years.

Recognition of Strengths
A diagnosis can help you better understand and embrace your unique cognitive and social strengths. Many neurodivergent adults find that this process improves self-esteem, strengthens identity, and fosters a more compassionate and empowered view of themselves.

Access to Support and Resources
Having a formal diagnosis can open the door to support services, therapeutic interventions, coaching, and community groups that are specifically designed for neurodivergent individuals. These resources can help you develop strategies to manage challenges and build on your strengths.

Personalized Strategies and Treatment
Even if you have already developed ways to manage life successfully, a diagnosis can offer new insight. It may highlight specific areas where tailored strategies, accommodations, or therapies could improve your daily functioning, communication, or well-being.

Opportunities for Advocacy
For those who wish to raise awareness and promote understanding of ADHD/Autism, a formal diagnosis can provide the foundation to share your experiences with credibility. It may also deepen your connection with the broader neurodivergent community.

Ultimately, deciding to pursue an evaluation is a personal choice. For many adults, it is a significant and empowering step toward self-discovery, self-acceptance, and living more authentically with a deeper understanding of their neurodiversity.

Clinician-Led Assessment Measures
Following the interview, you will complete evidence-based Assessment Measures with the clinician. These tools provide measurable insights into your symptoms and how they affect different areas of your life.

Education on ADHD/ASD
Explanation of what ADHD & Autism Spectrum Disorder are and how it is diagnosed. An opportunity to ask questions and reflect on your lived experience in a supportive, nonjudgmental space

Explanation of the Diagnosis

Overall, the evaluation process is designed to offer clarity, validation, and a clear path forward. Whether or not a diagnosis is given, the goal is to help you better understand your experiences and access support that fits your unique needs.

Can I get accommodations for school or work with this evaluation?

Yes! If your evaluation results in a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD, you will receive documentation that can be used to request accommodations at school, in college or university, or the workplace.

What is Provided: This service can provide a letter confirming the results and clinical validity of your evaluation and diagnosis. While it does not include a full neuropsychological report, that level of detail is not usually necessary for most workplace or academic accommodations.

Limitations: This service does not provide documentation for programs such as Social Security Disability Insurance, disability income, unemployment benefits, or housing assistance. These types of programs have complex eligibility requirements that vary by state and typically require a full neuropsychological evaluation. If you are seeking support through a government program, it is best to work with a provider in your state who can complete a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment that meets the standards required for those applications.

Will I receive a written report or just a diagnosis letter?

By default, we provide a formal diagnosis letter that includes your identifying information, diagnostic criteria, assessment results, diagnosis date, severity level (if applicable), and treatment recommendations.

For those who want a more in-depth document, we offer an optional Comprehensive Diagnostic Report ($300). This includes your mental health history, current challenges, diagnosis explanation, and personalized recommendations. It can be used to support therapy, medication planning, accommodations, or coordination with other providers.

What tests do you use to help diagnose ADHD & Autism?

Who conducts the evaluations?

You will work directly with a licensed clinician, often our clinical director, Kevin Schwarz, LCSW. We do not outsource evaluations or use third-party testing services.

Your evaluator will handle every step of the process, from intake to interview, scoring, interpretation, and feedback, ensuring a personalized, consistent, and clinically sound experience.

Can I speak with someone before scheduling an Autism or ADHD evaluation?

Yes! We offer 15-minute phone consultations before scheduling a diagnostic evaluation to go over the evaluation process and next steps. What Is the Difference Between an Diagnostic Evaluation and a Neuropsychological Assessment?

When deciding between a neuropsychological assessment and a diagnostic evaluation for Autism or ADHD, key differences include the cost, duration, focus of testing, and type of clinician conducting the assessment.

Neuropsychological evaluations typically take 10 to 12 hours, spread over multiple sessions, and are performed by a licensed clinical psychologist. These evaluations assess a wide range of cognitive and psychological domains, such as IQ, memory, executive functioning, attention, learning disabilities, and mood disorders.

In contrast, Autism and ADHD diagnostic evaluations are much more targeted and time-efficient, often lasting just 2 to 4 hours. These evaluations focus specifically on identifying conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or ADHD, ruling out other possible mental health conditions, and are conducted by mental health professionals with specialized training. Most diagnostic evaluations include a signed letter of diagnosis, and in some cases, a written report summarizing the findings.

While both types of assessments can lead to a formal diagnosis, diagnostic evaluations are more focused and efficient, where as neuropsychological testing offers a broader overview of an individual’s cognitive and emotional functioning.

Why choose Neurospice Therapy for your Autism or ADHD evaluation instead of a larger clinic?

At Neurospice Therapy, we’re not a large, impersonal testing facility or a “diagnosis mill.” We’re a small, highly specialized practice that takes the time to understand your unique experiences, especially if you’re seeking a late-diagnosed or adult Autism assessment.

Unlike larger clinics that often rely on rigid, one-size-fits-all protocols, we provide a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach tailored to adults who may have been overlooked, misdiagnosed, or misunderstood. Many of our clients are high-functioning, gifted, or have co-occurring conditions like anxiety, ADHD, or a history of trauma.

You’ll work directly with your evaluator and our Clinical Director, Kevin Schwarz, a seasoned expert in adult Autism and ADHD, with no third-party screeners or assistants. Every step of the evaluation is handled personally and thoughtfully to ensure accuracy, validation, and support.

Our clinicians are highly experienced in recognizing masked or internalized traits, particularly in women, nonbinary individuals, and late-diagnosed adults. We understand how Autism can present subtly in adulthood, often hidden beneath years of coping strategies, perfectionism, or burnout.

At Neurospice Therapy, you will be treated with respect, curiosity, and care, never reduced to a checklist. Our mission is to provide meaningful insight, a clear diagnosis when appropriate, and guidance on next steps, like workplace accommodations, therapy referrals, or navigating life as a neurodivergent adult.

Will my Autism or ADHD diagnosis be shared with insurance or a national database?

No, your Autism or ADHD diagnosis is confidential and will not be reported to any national database. At Neurospice Therapy, we take your privacy seriously. Your evaluation results and diagnosis are part of your private medical record and are only shared if you choose to disclose them.

If you decide to submit a superbill to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement, the diagnosis code may appear on that claim. However, this information remains between you and your insurance provider, it does not become part of a national or public registry.

Your diagnosis will not be reported to employers, schools, or government agencies unless you provide written consent. Many clients choose to keep their evaluation results private or share them only when seeking workplace accommodations, academic support, or personal insight.

Do you test for Anxiety and Depression during the Autism or ADHD evaluation?

Yes, we include screening for anxiety and depression as part of our comprehensive Autism and ADHD evaluations. Because these conditions frequently occur alongside neurodevelopmental diagnoses, it’s important to assess your full mental health profile.

Our evaluation process includes evidence-based questionnaires and clinical interviews that help identify symptoms of generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, and depressive disorders. Understanding how these conditions interact with ADHD or Autism allows us to provide a more accurate diagnosis and offer tailored recommendations for support and treatment.

Including anxiety and depression screening ensures you receive a well-rounded, clinically sound evaluation, not just a narrow diagnostic label.

Can you diagnose ADHD or Autism through telehealth? Is that effective?

Yes, ADHD and Autism can be accurately diagnosed through telehealth evaluations. At Neurospice Therapy, we specialize in virtual assessments and have helped hundreds of teens and adults receive reliable diagnoses through secure video sessions.

Our telehealth process includes comprehensive clinical interviews, evidence-based self-report measures, and careful behavioral observations, all adapted for remote use without compromising accuracy. These tools are supported by current research showing that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person evaluations for identifying ADHD and Autism, particularly in adults and older adolescents.

Telehealth can offer unique benefits. Being evaluated in the comfort of your own home may reduce anxiety and allow your natural behaviors and communication style to emerge more authentically.

When conducted by experienced clinicians using validated methods, like we do at Neurospice Therapy, telehealth evaluations are a clinically sound and accessible way to receive an Autism or ADHD diagnosis.
